The Birth of DriverMods

DriverMods was born from a simple idea—your car should evolve with you, not hold you back.

It all started with Matt, our founder, and his Subaru.
From the moment he bought it, he wanted a modern head unit to upgrade his driving experience.
But he was told the only way to do it was by replacing the entire middle console panel—a costly modification that would set him back over $1,500. That kind of investment for a bit of plastic and some knobs just didn’t make sense.

Then, inspiration struck. What if the head unit didn’t have to fit where the factory system was? What if there was another way? And so, down the rabbit hole he went.

After months of research, trial, and error later, Matt had sourced a custom dash mount that replaced the storage pocket instead of requiring a full stereo replacement. Along the way, he had contacted more screen suppliers than he could count. Eventually, he found the perfect one—high-performance head units at a fair price.

When he installed the unit in his Subaru, he had a realisation: If he had struggled to find an affordable, high-quality upgrade, how many other drivers were stuck in the same position? How many others thought modernising their car’s interior was either impossible or just too expensive?

That’s when DriverMods was born.
